Calendar View

The Calendar is your command center in CshFlow. It shows your cash flow at a glance, helping you see what's coming in and going out.

Overview

The calendar view displays:

  • Income (shown in green) - money coming into your account
  • Expenses (shown in red) - money going out of your account
  • Net change - your balance change for the day (income minus expenses)

Every day on the calendar shows how much your balance will change. This makes it easy to spot:

  • When you're getting paid
  • When big bills are due
  • How much spending room you'll have on any given day

Features

View Your Month at a Glance

See all your transactions for the current month on one screen. The color-coded days help you instantly understand your cash flow:

  • Green days mean money coming in
  • Red days mean money going out
  • Gray days mean no transactions or transfers (which don't affect your balance)

Click Any Day to See Details

Want to know more about a specific day? Click on it to see:

  • All transactions for that day
  • Which vendors you spent money with
  • How much each transaction was for
  • Whether any transactions are pending or confirmed

Monthly Metrics

At the top of the calendar, you'll see:

  • Total Income - All money coming in this month (paychecks, refunds, etc.)
  • Total Expenses - All money going out this month
  • Net Cash Flow - Income minus expenses (your actual net change for the month)

Use the arrow buttons to move between months. This is helpful for:

  • Planning ahead (see what's coming next month)
  • Understanding seasonal spending patterns
  • Reviewing past months to learn from your cash flow

How the Calendar Works

Automatic Pattern Detection

CshFlow automatically detects recurring transactions:

  • Paychecks - Your regular income deposits
  • Subscriptions - Bills that repeat monthly or weekly
  • Regular expenses - Like rent or insurance payments

Once detected, these show on your calendar every month so you can plan ahead.

Conservative Rounding for Safety

The amounts shown on the calendar use conservative rounding:

  • Income amounts are rounded DOWN (you might get more, never less)
  • Expenses are rounded UP (you might spend less, never more)

This creates a safety buffer so you're never surprised by an unexpected shortage of cash.

Understanding Colors

  • Green - Income and deposits
  • Red - Expenses and outflows
  • Blue - Transfers between accounts
  • Gray - Days with no activity

Interacting with Transactions

Edit or Delete

Click on any transaction to open the detail view where you can:

  • Change the vendor name or category
  • Add notes for your reference
  • Delete transactions if they're incorrect
  • Mark special transactions (transfers, debt facility income, auth holds)

Add Notes

Sometimes you want to remember why you spent money on something, or what a payment was for. Click any transaction to add a note.

Classify Transactions

Help CshFlow understand your transactions better by:

  • Confirming the vendor name
  • Setting the correct category
  • Marking transfers so they don't affect your spending room

Spending Room

Below the calendar, you'll see your spending room for the month:

  • Until Month End - How much you can safely spend from today until the end of the month
  • Until Next Income - How much you can safely spend until your next paycheck

This is calculated from:

  1. Your current balance
  2. All remaining income this period
  3. All remaining committed expenses
  4. A built-in safety buffer (conservative rounding)

The spending room updates automatically as you add transactions or confirm income patterns.
